塑料回收业必须迅速采取行动

　　据ICIS网站4月13日消息 Equate和MEGlobal前CEO周二表示，化学行业必须加快对塑料回收的投资，以实现规模化。

　　Ramesh Ramachandran在接受ICIS采访时表示：“积极分子和工业界都完全同意塑料垃圾所造成的明显和现实的危险。然而，我认为变革的步伐太慢了，在社会把生产者视为问题所在以及谁来解决问题之前，行业必须加快步伐。”

　　他补充说：“如果这个行业想在5-10年内产能翻番，而2-3年内没有一个明确的塑料垃圾解决方案，这对这个行业来说不会有好的结局。”

　　Ramachandran于2017-2020年担任科威特聚乙烯生产商Equale的首席执行官，2009-2017年担任阿联酋乙二醇生产商MEGlobal的首席执行官。目前则是MEGVIN顾问公司的负责人。

　　Industry must act fast on plastics recycling as societal pressure mounts

　　The chemical industry must accelerate investment in plastics recycling to achieve scale, the former CEO of Equate and MEGlobal said on Tuesday.

　　“Both the activists and the industry are in full agreement on the clear and present danger posed by plastic waste. However, I think the pace of change is too slow - industry has to move a lot faster before society looks to the producers as the problem and who have to fix it,” said Ramesh Ramachandran in an interview with ICIS.

　　“If the industry wants to double in capacity in 5-10 years without a clear solution in 2-3 years for plastic waste, this will not end well for industry,” he added.

　　Ramachandran was CEO of Kuwait-based polyethylene (PE) producer EQUATE from 2017-2020 and CEO of UAE-based ethylene glycols (EG) producer MEGlobal from 2009-2017. He is now principal at the consultancy MEGVIN Advisors.
